Introduction
With the increasing number of mental health problems in contemporary societies and the growing need for psychological and counseling services, attention to the spiritual and cultural dimensions of therapeutic interventions has become more important than ever. Meanwhile, Islamic mysticism, as a rich spiritual and cultural resource, has a high potential to strengthen mental health and improve the treatment process. Psychologists and counselors, as the main providers of psychotherapy services, need specialized and practical training that can promote scientific knowledge and integrate the concepts of Islamic mysticism into the therapeutic structure. Despite the importance of this approach, coherent and comprehensive educational packages based on Islamic mysticism have been less developed in the field of therapeutic psychology. Therefore, designing therapeutic educational packages appropriate to the culture and religious context of society can play a key role in increasing the quality of psychological services.
Purpose
The main purpose of this research is to design a therapeutic training package for psychologists and counselors based on Islamic mysticism that can fill the gap in specialized spiritual training and provide practical solutions for integrating the teachings of Islamic mysticism with modern psychological methods. This training package is designed to enhance the skills of therapists and align interventions with the spiritual values and beliefs of society.
Method
This research is of a qualitative-developmental type and was conducted in three main stages. First, by systematically reviewing relevant scientific sources, the theoretical foundations of the research were extracted. Then, through semi-structured interviews with psychologists, counselors, and Islamic mysticism professors, the educational needs and expectations of therapists from such a package were identified. The data were coded and analyzed using the content analysis method. Finally, the framework of the educational package was designed based on the findings and, after obtaining the opinions of experts, it was revised and completed.
Findings
Studies showed that key concepts of Islamic mysticism such as trust, remembrance, meditation, and repentance, along with the foundations of cognitive-behavioral and humanistic psychology, can provide a suitable platform for promoting psychological resilience and reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. The designed training package includes modules that provide psychologists and counselors with practical skills and integrative therapy techniques in addition to theoretical training. Also, this package is designed with the cultural and religious characteristics of the community in mind and is adaptable to different treatment environments. Initial feedback from experts indicates that this package has high potential for improving the quality of education and treatment.
Conclusion
The results of this study show that designing a therapeutic educational package based on Islamic mysticism can play an effective role in improving psychological and counseling services. This package not only increases the knowledge and skills of therapists but also makes treatments more aligned with the spiritual beliefs and needs of clients, thereby increasing the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. It is recommended that this package be used as an educational tool in scientific and therapeutic centers, and that more research be conducted on the development and evaluation of similar packages in other cultures and spiritual contexts to help continuously improve the quality of psychological services.
