Background & Aims: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of emotion-seeking dimensions on marital life, which can play an important role in strengthening marital relationships and, as a result, the stability and robustness of the family institution. It aimed to investigate the mediating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between emotional expression styles and emotional alexithymia with emotional divorce in couples who experienced emotional divorce and referred to psychological centers in Tehran. Methodology: The research method is a cross-sectional correlational type. The statistical population of this study consisted of all married women referring to counseling clinics in Tehran's District 1 with the scope of couple counseling in 1400, from which 220 people were selected using the convenience sampling method. In this study, emotional intelligence (Bar-On, 1980), emotional expressiveness (King and Emmons, 1990), and emotional divorce (Gotman, 1999) instruments were used, all of which had acceptable validity and reliability. SPSS macro software was used to analyze the data. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was also used to answer the research hypotheses. Findings: In general, the findings showed that the effect of emotional schemas on emotional divorce is significant. Also, emotional schemas have an effect on emotional divorce through emotional intelligence. In addition, the effect of emotional expressiveness on emotional divorce through emotional intelligence was also found to be significant, indicating that emotional expressiveness through emotional intelligence has an effect on emotional divorce. Conclusion: The study showed that the model has a good fit. Based on the results, it can be concluded that emotional divorce can be manipulated by managing emotional expression styles and emotional schemas, so that emotional intelligence can strengthen this relationship.

The study used the tools of emotional intelligence (Bar-On, 1980), emotional expression (King and Emmons, 1990), emotional malaise (Toronto, 1985) and emotional divorce (Guttman, 1999), all of which have acceptable validity and reliability. Structural equation modeling was also used to answer the research hypotheses. 
Results: Findings showed that the model has a good fit. The results showed that the styles of expressing emotion and emotional resentment have a direct effect on emotional divorce in couples with experience of emotional divorce referred to Tehran Psychological Center. Emotional expression styles and emotion nagging have no indirect effect on emotional divorce mediated by emotional intelligence in couples with emotional divorce experience referred to Tehran Psychological Center. 
Conclusion: At the level of the effect of emotional intelligence, are the styles of expressing emotion and emotional nagging, and provide a better understanding of the etiology of the phenomenon of emotional divorce in couples.
