Abstract:   (205 Views)
Monkeypox is a viral infection caused by a member of the Poxviridae family, which is characterized by a brick-like appearance under the electron microscope. After a period of extensive vaccination, the smallpox infection has been eradicated. However, limited outbreaks of this zoonosis disease, monkeypox, mainly in African countries, have been reported in recent years. There have also been very limited cases of transmission of the disease in non-African countries. In terms of taxonomy, this virus has 2 lineages, Central Africa and West Africa. Most of the infected people have clinical symptoms, including skin and digestive symptoms, and the duration of the onset of symptoms is about 5 to 13 days after exposure to the virus.  The significant spread of the monkeypox virus through the human population in 2022 has become a global concern. Due to this, the aim of this study was to provide general information about the virological, clinical, diagnostic, pathogenesis, control, and treatment of this viral infection.
