Abstract
Background: Continuity of marriage seems logical given that marriage is vital to well-being. When marriages are stable and satisfying, spouses are healthier, happier, and live longer. Many factors are involved in marriage stability and marriage stability includes many concepts such as life satisfaction. These factors are sometimes applied in the form of independent concepts and sometimes as a subset of variables of life satisfaction and even marital satisfaction One of the desires that exist in people, especially in traditional societies, is the desire to have children, this desire is so strong that even unmarried people have the desire to have children. In fact, having children and caring for children are important events in the life of every human being and they are positively related to the ultimate goals of wholeness, happiness and unity of the family. Fertility and reproduction is the basis of human life, but the inability to reproduce is always a huge problem for families Despite advances in medical science, still a significant percentage of couples do not succeed in treating their infertility problem, and this number is increasing. Infertility is considered as the failure to conceive after twelve months of unprotected intercourse In other words, people who experience infertility, in addition to physical issues, are under pressure emotionally and psychologically. Psychological diseases of infertility such as anxiety, depression and chronic stress are common among the infertile population, especially women. Also, the problem of infertility affects many of their social relationships and family functioning, and women who are naturally unable to bear children will be involved in many personal and social problems that will put them in an unusual life and Finally, it affects the married life and family functioning negatively Infertility is recognized as primary and secondary infertility. If a person is not able to get pregnant now, it is primary infertility, and if a person has experienced pregnancy, miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy in the past and is not able to get pregnant now, it is secondary infertility. Considering the challenges that infertility creates for couples and affects the quality of their relationships, and since most of the past researches have focused more on the instability of marriage and the possibility of divorce, and less internal research has been seen that uses the method Qualitatively, seek to discover the characteristics of marriage stability in infertile couples. Therefore, with the lack of research in this field and the importance of having children in maintaining the foundation of the family and marital relations, the present research with a qualitative method seeks to deeply analyze the question, what are the main characteristics of the stability of marriage in the life of infertile couples?
Methods: The current research is a qualitative study based on grounded theory, which was conducted with the aim of explaining the factors affecting the stability of marriage in infertile couples. Grounded theory is a qualitative research method that uses a series of systematic methods to develop an inductively based theory about a phenomenon. Research findings are based on a theoretical arrangement of reality, not a set of figures or a set of materials that are connected to each other. In this research, the purposeful sampling method was continued until the theoretical saturation was reached, and the sampling was stopped after 15 people were selected. The entry criteria of people diagnosed with infertility, not having a mental illness and having full consent to participate in the research and willingness to cooperate, and the exit criteria were the possibility of fertility, having a mental illness and not having full consent to participate in the research and unwillingness to cooperate. Then interviews were taken from the sample. The interview was semi-structured. During the interview, the interviewer asked questions to the interviewee in sequence, and his answer was recorded by a tape recorder. Each of the questions was re-answered and flexible to new questions. Each interview lasted approximately 30 minutes and was then implemented by the researcher. The obtained information was analyzed and reported in three stages of open coding, central coding and selective coding.
Results: In the current research, the information obtained from the interview with the participants was the product of their experience in the common life, which was expressed based on the scientific basis of qualitative research. In fact, after reaching theoretical saturation in the obtained findings and the data analysis process, 101 open codes, 17 central codes and 6 selective codes were finally identified. Based on the findings of the causal factors of marriage stability, person-centered factors include realism, emotional stability and self-belief, and couple-centered factors include choosing a suitable spouse and an efficient couple system and background conditions with two selection codes of the family context, which include the teachings of the family of origin. And the cultural and social context included cultural and social teachings. Also, the facilitating conditions were the activeness of the support network, including the support network of friends, economic status and family support, and the strategies adopted by the couple included person-centered strategies, including self-care, and community-centered strategies, including an efficient communication circle with others. In this regard, the consequences of the stability of the marriage of infertile couples, the individual-oriented consequences include finding meaning from difficult conditions, the couple-oriented consequences include increasing compatibility and increasing intimacy, and the community-oriented consequences include the activation of the social role.
Conclusion: Finally, due to the multidimensional nature of the factors affecting the stability of the marriage of infertile couples, a large amount of supporting factors were identified in the individual, interpersonal and social sectors; The existence of internal and external support networks in Hawara can help couples to face challenges and problems efficiently. Also, among the limitations of the current research, accurate statistics and information about the stability of life in infertile couples were not available, which made the analysis of the findings somewhat difficult. Therefore, the findings of this research help not to focus only on its dark and black aspects in critical and difficult times, and by examining, identifying and being aware of the growing and adapting perceptions in this way, we can deal with the problems caused by anxiety and create more promising intervention programs for health. Edited the psyche of people. It is suggested that according to the obtained results, in future researches, the stability of life in infertile couples should be investigated in a quantitative way using a questionnaire and with a much larger statistical population.
