Background: Regular exercise is associated with reducing respiratory symptoms and shortness of breath in obstructive diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 8 weeks of moderate intensity aerobic exercise on VO2peak and clinical symptoms of mature and immature girls with asthma in humid environment.
Method: The total number of samples was 60 female students with asthma (30 matures and 30 immatures) with an average age of 8 to 18 years who were selected purposefully. Research design was pre-test post-test and at first, the subjects were asked to participate in pre-test including Bruce test for evaluating vo2peak and filling questionnaire for clinical symptoms. Then the subjects did aerobic exercise in 3 steps (warm up-jogging and cool down) for 8 weeks, 3 sessions in each week and 45 minutes in each session. And after 8-week exercise, they participated in post-test including Bruce test and filling questionnaire for clinical symptoms.
Results: The results showed that 8-week moderate intensity aerobic exercise has a positive effect on VO2peak and clinical symptoms of mature and immature girls with asthma.
Conclusion: It can be suggested that these exercises should be used to improve vo2peak status and clinical symptoms for this group of girls.
