Abstract: (131 Views)
The current study set out to examine the structural relationships between communication orientation and conformity and the tendency to commit marital infidelity, with attachment styles and sexual satidfaction serving as mediators. The study sample consisted of individuals of both genders who sought counseling services at centers in Mashhad. A total of 220 participants were selected using the multi-stage cluster sampling technique. The data collection instruments employed in this study consisted of the Attitude Toward Infidelity Scale, the Revised Family Communication Patterns Scale, the Revised Hazan & Shaver's Three-Category Measure, and the Index of Sexual Satisfaction Scale. The current study's findings showed that the tendency toward marital infidelity may be predicted by communication orientation both directly and through the three variables of secure attachment style, avoidant attachment style, and ambivalent attachment style. The study's findings also showed a direct and indirect relationship between the propensity for marital infidelity and the conformity-oriented communication pattern and attachment types. In addition, recommendations and limitations of the research are outlined.
