Background & Purpose: Today, sport is a social phenomenon and a tool for social, political and economic changes. It is clear that the achievement of these functions will be in the shadow of the development of sports in the international and national arenas (1). The development of sports in each country is divided into four main areas: championship sports, public sports, educational sports and professional sports. The development of championship sports in the country is the background for achieving success in global and international competitions (2). Talent search is a scientific and purposeful process in which children and teenagers are evaluated through some standard tests and criteria in order to encourage and guide them to participate in suitable sports fields, which are expected to be more successful (6). Interest in identifying talent is one of the most important concepts in sports science and physical education, which has increased significantly in recent years (7) and has become one of the main challenges of sports. Undoubtedly, talent identification and familiarization with different sports fields is a complex and multi-dimensional process that cannot be looked at with a single glance and simple process (8). Water sports, especially water polo, have always been the focus of sports managers and planners due to their appeal among people, but there has never been a long-term plan for them in any part of them. Therefore, the current research aims to conduct a research on this and design and compile a strategic plan for water polo talent in Fars province. Methods: The current descriptive-analytical research is of a mixed type and a combination of two qualitative and quantitative methods and is practical in terms of purpose. The statistical population in the qualitative part of the research were all experts with sports management experience and full technical expertise in water polo in Fars province, the number of 20 people was targeted as a research sample to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of finding talent in water polo and also to compile Strategies, missions and strategies were chosen. The statistical population in the quantitative part was all the beneficiaries and the main audience of water polo in Fars province, 160 people were selected as the research sample and answered the questions of the questionnaire extracted from the process of qualitative interviews. In order to collect the information and data needed in the research process, library studies and field studies were used. In the qualitative part, participatory evaluation method (three-step Delphi method) was used to identify internal and external factors and choose the strategy that best matches them. After designing and compiling the questionnaire, they were distributed among the statistical population of the quantitative part of the research and the desired data were collected. Results: The results showed that the item "growing trend of winning medals" with an average of 4.51 is the most important item and the item "pursuit of perfection and motivation for national and international honors in the province" with an average of 3.26 is the least important item in the strengths component. be On the other hand, the item "limited opportunities to gain experience for water polo managers, coaches and athletes in competitions" with an average of 43.4 is the most important, and the item "inability to give rewards and financial prizes to motivate and encourage people to water polo amateur, recreational in Helping to discover talent" with an average of 22.3 is the least important item in the component of weaknesses. Also, the item "the existence of a suitable perspective in the program of Iran 1404" with an average of 4.29 is the most important item and the item "increasing the tendency of girls and boys to water polo and the motivation to participate in domestic and foreign fields" with an average of 4.05 is the least important item in the component. are opportunities. In relation to the threat component, it was determined that the item "superiority of the culture of leapfrog and unstable growth instead of step-by-step and stable growth among new managers in the board" was the most important with an average of 4.27 and the item "unfavorability of the level of interest and preparation of practical solutions for "Growth and development and help in finding talent" with an average of 3.66 is the least important item in the threats component. Finally, it was found that the final score of the internal evaluation matrix is less than 2.5, which means the superiority of weaknesses and strengths, and also the final score of the evaluation matrix of external factors is less than 2.5, which means the superiority of threats over opportunities, and then By showing these scores in the swot matrix, it was found that the strategic situation of Fars water polo team's talent search is in WT position and it should use defensive strategies for development. Conclusion: The findings of this research showed that the water polo team of Fars province has 18 strengths in the field of talent search. Teil and Bakr (2020) introduced one of the stages of talent development, the development of talents, providing a suitable learning environment to accelerate or realize the potential of athletes. In the explanation of this finding, it can be said that when there are high-level institutions such as the country's senior vice presidents of sports or transparency in the goals, we can expect the development of sports disciplines (13). The findings of this research showed that the water polo board of Fars province has 25 weaknesses in the field of talent search. Asadi et al. (2017) reported that there are many obstacles in the way of the development of wrestling, which needs the attention of managers and policy makers in the field of sports. 16). Mokhtari (2013) identified the lack of financial resources as one of the weaknesses of the development of sports fields (12). The findings of this research showed that the water polo team of Fars province has 12 threats in the field of talent search. Hosseini et al. In the explanation of this finding, it can be said: until the threats facing the organizations and especially the sports organizations in the environment are not removed, there is no hope for the water polo organization or the water polo team of the province to achieve success (4). The results of the research showed that the water polo team of Fars province is in the position (WT) in the talent search field. In general, it can be said that one of the most important reasons for this unfavorable situation is the lack of a development strategy in various sports fields. The water polo board of Fars province is no exception to this rule. Organizations that implement the WT strategy take a defensive posture and aim to reduce internal weaknesses and avoid threats from the external environment. An organization that has internal weaknesses and faces many threats in the external environment will be in a risky position. |
