Introduction: Tol-like receptors (TLRs) play an important role in inducing inflammatory insulin resistance, and modulating their levels is effective in improving insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of one course circuit resistance training with different intensity on the levels of Myd88, TLR2 and TLR4 in obese postmenopausal women.
Method: 44 postmenopausal women with a mean age of 56.07 3 3.18 years were selected as subjects and were randomly divided into four groups of control: low-intensity circular resistance training (L-RT), moderate-intensity (M-RT) and High intensity (H-RT) were divided. Resistance training program for L-RT, M-RT and H-RT groups was performed with intensity of 40, 60 and 80% 1RM, respectively. Blood samples were taken in two stages of pre-test and post-test and Myd88, TLR2 and TLR4 levels were measured by ELISA.
Results: The results showed significant decrease in Myd88, TLR2 and TLR4 levels in L-RT, M-RT and H-RT groups compared to the control group (p <0.001). In addition, Myd88 levels in the M-RT group (p = 0.041) and H-RT (p <0.001) compared with the L-RT group and also in the H-RT group compared with the M-RT group (P = 0.031) showed significant decrease. Also, the decrease in TLR-2 and TLR-4 levels in M-RT and H-RT groups compared to L-RT group (p <0.001) and in H-RT group compared to M-RT group was significant (p <0.001).
Conclusion: likely Performing high-intensity circular resistance exercises is lead to further reduction in inflammatory factors, further reductions in Myd88, TLR2, and TLR4 levels associated with further reductions in insulin resistance.
