زمینه و هدف: مطالعات ژنتیکی از PPARy به عنوان مؤلفه ژنتیکی مؤثر در بروز و شدت دیابت نوع 2 حمایت نموده‌اند. مطالعه حاضر با هدف تعیین اثر تمرینات مقاومتی بر بیان PPARy در بافت چربی زیرپوستی، مقاومت انسولین، گلوکز و سطوح انسولین سرم در موش‌های دیابتی نوع 2 انجام گرفت.
روش کار: در این مطالعه تجربی-کاربردی 14 سر موش نر ویستار دیابتی شده 10 هفته‌ای توسط رژیم غذایی پرچرب + STZ به شیوه تصادفی به گروه‌های ورزش (7=n) و کنترل (7=n) تقسیم شدند. گروه ورزش 6 هفته تمرین مقاومتی را در قالب بالا رفتن از نردبان پله‌ای (5 روز در هفته) اجرا نموده و گروه کنترل در مداخله تمرینی شرکت ننمودند. بیان نسبی PPARy در بافت چربی زیرپوستی، گلوکز ناشتا و مقاومت انسولین در 48 ساعت پس از آخرین جلسه تمرینی در دو گروه اندازه‌گیری شد. از آزمون تی مستقل جهت مقایسه داده‌ها استفاده شد. تغییرات کمتر از پنج درصد معنی‌دار در نظر گرفته شد.
یافته‌ها: تمرینات مقاومتی به کاهش معنی‌دار گلوکز ناشتا (001/0>p) و مقاومت به انسولین (001/0>p)  در مقایسه با گروه کنترل منجر شد. در مقایسه با گروه کنترل، بیان PPARy در پاسخ به تمرینات مقاومتی به میزان معنی‌داری افزایش یافت (013/0 = p). تفاوت معنی‌داری در سطوح انسولین سرم بین 2 گروه مشاهده نشد (184/0 = p).
نتیجه‌گیری: بر پایه شواهد موجود، کاهش مقاومت انسولین و گلوکز ناشتا را می‌توان به افزایش بیان PPARy در بافت چربی زیرپوستی موش‌های چاق دیابتی در پاسخ به تمرینات مقاومتی نسبت داد.
