زمینه و هدف: سنتز و ترشح انسولین از پانکراس و عملکرد انسولین در بافت‌های هدف از مهم‌ترین عوامل شیوع یا شدت دیابت نوع 2 به شمار می‌روند. هدف اصلی مطالعه حاضر تعیین اثر تمرینات تناوبی شدید (HIIT) بر بیان FOXO1 در بافت پانکراس رت‌های دیابتی نوع 2 است.
روش کار: در مطالعه حاضر 14 سر رت نر ویستار توسط رژیم غذایی پر چرب و تزریق درون صفاقی STZ دیابتی نوع 2 شدند و به شیوه تصادفی به گروه‌های ورزش (7 = n) و کنترل (7 = n) تقسیم شدند. گروه ورزش یک دوره تمرینات 6 هفته‌ای HIIT را به تعداد 5 جلسه در هفته در قالب دویدن روی تریدمیل اجرا نموده و گروه کنترل در این دوره تمرین نداشتند. بیان FOXO1 در بافت پانکراس، گلوکز ناشتا و انسولین سرم پس از اتمام تمرینات ورزشی در دو گروه اندازه‌گیری شد. از آزمون آماری تی مستقل در سطح معنی‌داری کمتر از 5 درصد جهت مقایسه متغیرها بین گروه‌ها استفاده شد.
یافته‌ها: تمرینات HIIT به افزایش بیان نسبی FOXO1 در بافت پانکراس منجر شد (017/0 = p). در مقایسه با گروه کنترل، سطوح انسولین سرم توسط تمرینات HIIT افزایش یافت (007/0 = p). سطوح گلوکز ناشتا نیز در گروه ورزش نسبت به گروه کنترل کاهش یافت (0001/0 > p).
نتیجه‌گیری: بر پایه یافته‌ها، بهبود انسولین سرم در گروه ورزش را شاید بتوان به افزایش بیان FOXO1 در بافت پانکراس در پاسخ به تمرینات HIIT نسبت داد. با این وجود، شناخت مکانیسم‌های عهده‌دار اثر ورزش بر سنتز و ترشح انسولین نیازمند مطالعات بیشتری است.
