Background and aims: Considering the abundance of lead in ecosystems, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of hydro alcoholic extract of broccli on lead acetate oxidative stress in kidney of mice.
Methods: In this study, 40 albino mice with 30 ± 5 g weight were used in 4groups. In control group contained 500 ppm lead in running water and T2, T3 and T4 groups, in addition to 500 ppm lead acetate in running water, intraperitonealy received 100, 200 and 300 mg /kg of hydroalcholic of broccli extract, respectively. The blood samples were taken of the animal . After euthanised the right kidney was fixed in 10% formalin buffer for pathological studies and left kidney for using in MDA assay was done.
Results: A significant weight and kidney' s weight increase was observed in control group. The concentration of MDA in control, T1, T2 and T3 groups were masured 34.67±2.56, 27.98±3.056, 16.86±4.654 and 12.06±6.765 µmol/ml, respectively. The highest concentration of TCA were observed in T3 group with 1034 ± 223.121and less than in control group 709.70 ± 35.34 µmol / ml respectively, which has a significant difference with the control group among T1, T2 and T3 groups.  In the histopathologic studies, the highest damage rated 7 was seen in the control group and the lowest was observed in T3group.
Conclusion: According to the results, it can be concluded that broccoli hydroalcoholic extract at 300 mg / kg has the control effects against lead acetate oxidative stress inkidney of mice.
